Here you will find a number of different glass courses in the classes calendar.  The most popular courses are the Stained Glass and Fused Glass Making but there is also Jewellery Making and Glass Painting Classes as well as the Summer Course which covers a number of techniques rarely taught anywhere in Britain. The easiest way to view the classes is in the classes and workshop availability page or set this page to “Agenda” and then filter the classes by using “Categories” and “Tags”.  The number of spaces are always kept up to date and if you enroll onto a class you will then be directed via the secure Paypal system.

This Summer Course taught by Richard Paton is for those who have done some glass work previously and would like to learn new techniques.

The price for the week includes materials.

Day 1 & 2: Glass fusing is a fast developing area and there are many new and exciting ways to get great effects in glass. Richard has experience using fused glass on a large scale and in many architectural spaces and is a good source of knowledge if you’re considering embarking on such projects in the future. Some of the new techniques will include kiln casting methods, mould making, tack fusing at various temperatures, various inclusions, bubble making, frit making and application using various methods.

Day 3: Screen printing photographs & using decals from a printer

Day 4: Sandblasting, engraving & etching cream

Day 5: Gilding, verre eglomise – the application of leaf onto glass

This class has flexibility to develop your own project throughout the week using the new techniques.

The format will be that all the teaching of new methods will happen in the morning and then you practice them for the rest of the day to make individual items and where possible work them into previous results to develop a project.

There is a limit of 7 people per course enabling faster learning.

The advantage of a small class is that you can experiment with many different effects and have an experienced adviser on hand at each stage.

Lessons are taught by Richard Paton with over 20 years experience who will also give tips and tricks of the trade.

This class is also suitable for a beginner with no glass experience as the fundamentals of all the techniques will be fortified during the course.

Fused Glass Christmas Decorations

Come along and make your own fused glass Christmas Decorations!  A seasonal fusing day course where you will learn to safely cut and shape glass and combine it into a range of festive shapes for full fusing or tack fusing, ready to hang on your tree or in your windows!

Working with fused glass is an adventure in colour, no previous experience is needed, just a willingness to play! In this exciting day course we will develop our skills in fused glass exploring decorative techniques to make decorations for your tree or perhaps candle holders.

We’ll use inclusions in the glass including copper, mica, bubbles, dichroic glass (the jewel-like glass with reflective and refractive qualities). We’ll provide information on where to buy supplies of tools and glass for the future. There is a limit of 6 people per workshop for faster learning and 1:1 attention.

If you love working with colour you will enjoy making and designing your own decorations it isn’t difficult and the combinations are limitless. Come and surprise yourself and rediscover your creativity!

The decorations your make will be fused overnight and you can either collect them from the studio by mutual arrangement (or we can post them out to you after the course if you prefer).

A great day out making gifts and beautiful festive decorations for your home! Happy Christmas!
