It has been my privilege to make what was Craigie Aitchisons final design. Craigie passed away in 2009 with his blessing to make this window for the Prayer Chapel in St Martins in the Bull Ring. It took longer than expected to finally commission the window. After making several glass samples I convinced those concerned that a combination of fused glass and traditional painting was the best way to remain faithful to Craigie’s powerful design. It is both Modern and Traditional in it’s methodological production. The unusual dark background adds intensity to the figure of Christ in the central window. It was made by Richard Paton and officially unveiled by the Duke of Kent on 22nd May 2016.
