laminating simply means gluing one sheet of glass to another. This is classified as safety glass and conforms to British Safety standard BS6206 which means it can be used in all domestic and architectural spaces.
We use a cold pour laminating technique mainly with fused glass as it is not possible to toughen it in a toughening kiln.
For extra strength fused glass can be laminated to toughened float glass (window glass). It is possible to use another cheaper method to make the fused glass safe to use but it isn’t as resistant to knocks as laminated glass can be.
Our max. laminating size of float glass to fused glass is 1 m x 2 m.
Update: We no longer do laminating in house, if laminating is required we can get a quote from a partner company to do this aspect of the job.
