A glittering half-day (10am – 1pm) introduction for complete beginners to making Fused Glass Jewellery . If you like colour and a touch of sparkle, this is the taster course for you! Those of us who have “magpie” tendencies will love the dichroic glass (with a beautiful metallic shimmer) alongside a rainbow of coloured glass and media we will use to make our own collections for jewellery. During our half-day you will learn the essential skills of cutting and combining small sections of glass together ready for firing (which will take place after the course as the fusing process takes 24 hours) so your glass will follow you home.
With a multitude of techniques to explore and a huge array of samples to inspire you, Eleanor will guide you through step by step. You can expect to make:
- Stud earrings
- A pendant with a bail (for a choker or chain)
- A bracelet with a glass cabochon
- A brooch (or pair of cuff links)
- And maybe something you have dreamt up yourself too!
All materials are included as well as jewellery findings, and a pack of the recommended adhesive to assemble your jewellery afterwards. We will post your glass to you via Royal Mail (or you can pick it up later from the studio) The course is open to anyone over 16 years of age, and to children over 12 years if each is accompanied by a paying adult.
